Kevin spotted this female American goldfinch out of the back window, snacking on the seeds of a coneflower.
Kevin and his brother, Bryan, joined their parents for a weekend in Chicago.
They took these pictures at and near Navy Pier, Ohio Street Beach, and the nearby harbors on the Chicago lake front.
A ring-billed gull at the beach.

The speedboat does not bother this gull.
Here is a good view of a juvenile herring gull.
This pigeon strains for a look at us on Navy Pier!
There were many gulls on the break wall.
The gulls liked to rest on top of Navy Pier.

Club President Kevin and his dad visited the new lake at Whalon Lake Park in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

This is a woodpecker, probably a Northern Flicker.
This small bird looks like it might be a female indigo bunting.
There were a lot of American goldfinches around. Here, one of
them stops long enough to sing a song and pose for a picture.
See how he blends in with the flowers.
Maureen spotted this goldfinch outside of her window.
Hugh saw a number of them at the feeders at the cottage in Wabeno, Wisconsin.  (Below, left)
Feeding with them were a male (red) and female (yellow) scarlet tanager. (Below, right)
Stacey framed this male cardinal in the evergreen in her yard.
